The Client

FLY Fitness are an independent, boutique gym located in the centre of Bath.

The dream began for FLY out of the founders’ passion for self-love and a desire to facilitate others to transform their own mental and physical wellness through fitness. Today they offer highly-rated exercise classes, and provide state of the art gym equipment all in a luxuriously renovated Grade I listed building, complete with a healthy food café on the ground floor.

The Challenge

The landscape in which FLY started was a challenging one. Less than a year after opening their doors for the first time, FLY along with the rest of the nation had to shut up shop in the wake of the global pandemic. Much of the momentum they had generated became dormant, and when we started working with FLY in 2021, we had all entered a brave new world and people’s fitness habits had changed. FLY needed a strategy for growth – to show people the value that being part of a gym, a fitness community, like FLY would make to their lives.

The Strategy

Offering a luxury gym experience with a higher price tag to match, FLY needed a strategy which didn’t depend upon offering huge discounts just to get more members through the door only to have them leave again later. They were looking to grow loyal, enthusiastic members who would make FLY their home from home.

Confident in the service they were providing, the primary goal for FLY’s digital marketing therefore became to bring potential members through the door in order to experience FLY’s classes and facilities for themselves.

The Project

This led us to create the Try FLY campaignTry FLY enables anyone interested in FLY to experience the gym for themselves – both the gym and a class – without being committed to membership.

To facilitate this, we added a pop-up to FLY’s website which invites those browsing for a new gym to sign-up to receive a free pass. This then adds the person’s contact details to the mailing list and triggers an automated email detailing next steps to be sent to the new sign-up. At the same time it notifies the FLY team that they have a new lead waiting.

The Results

With 1000 new sign ups and counting, this offer is meeting a need for potential customers – who are keen to try before they buy and with nothing to lose and everything to gain from a free gym experience.

It’s great for our client because the automated system quietly pushes them high-quality leads on an almost daily basis, meaning less time spent marketing and more time spent training with their newest members.
